The impact of Covid 19 on garment workers – Live update from India and Bangladesh
We are looking forward to another webinar with our partner organizations live from India and Bangladesh! Almost half a year ago our partners reported on the current situation of the garment workers during the Corona lockdown. In our webinar on September 15, 2020, we will follow up on
- how the situation has developed in the meantime,
- the current effects of the Corona pandemic in the textile industry,
- how we have helped garment workers on site with the support of the Corona Relief Fund,
- the plans for the future.
The following guests will give first-hand insights: Kalpona Akter, head of our partner organization BCWS (Bangladesh Centre for Workers Solidarity). She is one of the most prominent activists in Bangladesh. Mary Viyakula, who has been managing director of SAVE (Social Awareness & Voluntary Education) in India since 2013, and Deepika Rao. She is Program Director at Cividep and has been working for the NGO for 5 years. Together with Dr. Gisela Burckhardt (Chief Executive Officer of FEMNET) they will discuss the impact the Corona crisis has on the garment workers and report on the current situation.
