Regional Shared Services
Please join Lyle Wray, executive director emeritus, and Pauline Yoder, acting executive director of the Capital Region Council of Governments (CRCOG), as they discuss the why’s, what’s, and how’s of establishing a Regional Shared Services program. Lyle and Pauline will discuss why there was a need for a shared services program, what were and were not included in the shared services program, and how it was implemented. You will about the various factors that had to be taken into account including ongoing technological issues, how best to scale up to meet the needs of all the cities and towns within the region, and how best to match the region’s capacities with the needs of the communities. But you will also learn that the rewards that arose from this collaboration and how it proved beneficial to everyone, and every political entity involved. Functions that often were bureaucratically burdensome either because of cost or staff capacity became far less onerous once these cities and towns were able to coalesce around a shared services program. As always, the webinar will include a period for questions, answers, and comment.
