In this ARC TALKS webinar, cardiologist Dr. Ahmad Masri MD, MS and genetic counselor Emily Brown, MGC, CGC will discuss the role of genetic testing in hereditary ATTR amyloidosis care, along with providing disease management recommendations for genetic carriers.

Emily will address the importance of genetic counseling while sharing tips to support patients and family members on their journey of genetic counseling.

In addition to giving an overview of hereditary ATTR amyloidosis, Dr. Masri will discuss the link between hereditary ATTR amyloidosis and genetic predisposition. Dr. Masri will also guide asymptomatic and symptomatic carriers with recommendations for monitoring disease progression and identifying symptoms.

There will be a Q and A session following the presentation.

Dr. Masri directs dedicated clinical and research teams who focus on the care of patients with all types of amyloidosis and those with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and other infiltrative diseases. Emily Brown, MGC, CGC (Genetic Counselor @Amyloidosis Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital) Emily Brown, MGC, CGC—is a certified genetic counselor in the Amyloidosis Center at Johns Hopkins Hospital. Emily has been involved in both research and clinical care for patients with amyloidosis including the clinical trials for medications which are now on the market. She has spoken both nationally and internationally about amyloidosis and especially loves speaking with patients and families. She is currently the Co-Chair for the Cardiovascular Genetics Special Interest Group for the National Society of Genetic Counselors and founded the Amyloidosis Working Group as part of that team.
