ICAA Partner Series: No More Falls? How One Simple Motion Can Increase Balance
Recent research has shown that balance can be quickly improved in older Americans-- if they were to simply incorporate different moves into their fitness activities. Just as there are three dimensions to the physical world, so, too, there are three planes of human movement. Yet, in daily life, most seniors move in one plane only: the sagittal plane. This creates strength imbalances that lead to injury, pain, decreased balance, and increased risk of falling. The good news? Adding a simple 3D fitness element has been clinically shown to dramatically increase balance in as little as 4 weeks.
