Agitating for Change
Description
Join Blueprint on Wednesday 31st March from 1-2pm for our panel event – Agitating for Change – hosted by Dee Corrigan.
In recent years, a surge of organisations articulated and communicated their purpose. But having a stated organisational purpose is one thing, truly living it is another. For most large organisations to truly live their purpose involves a fundamental re-set in how a company thinks and acts. This challenging transition can only be realised if all people within an organisation are truly part of the process, participating, innovating and agitating in ways that bring their organisation into alignment with its ultimate purpose. But how do you do that effectively and justly?
Dee will be joined by our three panellist Jo Alexander (Purpose Engagement Manager, bp), Lydia Hascott (Head of Intrapreneurship at the Finance Innovation Lab) and Rishi Madlani (Head of Sustainable Finance and Just Transition, NatWest Group) to discuss how they facilitate and enable change within organisations, their experiences, and their practical advice for others, before opening the discussion to attendees.

Her passion for responsible, purpose led business and finance was reignited by her participation in the On Purpose program and her work at Blueprint and ShareAction. Jo decided to raise her concerns about climate change and the need for a ‘Just Transition’ at bp’s 2019 AGM, where she met bp’s incoming CEO Bernard Looney. It was a meeting that inspired her return to the company and help bp ‘reimagine energy for people and our planet’. Jo is now leading the development of an integrated plan for bp to engage its 70,000 employees about purpose, based on meaningful dialogue and creating an environment where staff can do meaningful work that that delivers bp's purpose and ambition. Rishi Madlani (Head of Sustainable Finance and Just Transition @NatWest Group) Rishi has worked for NatWest Group for over 15 years and now leads Sustainable Finance for the Group which encompasses the bank’s activities supporting the transition to a lower carbon economy and increasing our funding to areas with a wider social purpose. Outside the office Rishi serves as an elected Councillor in Camden, representing Bloomsbury ward, and is Chair of the London Borough of Camden Pension Committee. Rishi also serves on the boards of UK100 and RenewableUK. Lydia Hascott (Head of Intrapreneurship @Finance Innovation Lab) Lydia is Head of Intrapreneurship at the Lab, leading its work with mainstream finance professionals to embed purposeful innovation within their organisations. Through this work, Lydia sees firsthand how purpose-driven disruptors can influence significant change within large institutions through navigating complex organisational structures, power dynamics, mindsets and cultures. Lydia is also Director of the Climate Safe Learning Lab, an initiative supporting banking professionals to advocate for more ambitious climate action within their institutions. Alongside her work at the Lab Lydia is a coach, facilitator and consultant working with individuals and organisations to positively transform the systems in which we live and work.
