Gun Violence is a Public Health Issue - A Virtual Event
Innovations in Public Health: Gun Violence is a Public Health Issue
Please join Kim Meredith, CEO of the San Francisco General Hospital Foundation, in conversation with Dr. Campbell and Representative Thompson for an important conversation about the need to define gun violence as a critical public health issue.

2020 was the deadliest year on record for gun related deaths. Even during a global pandemic, gun violence increased, devastating communities and forcing a very important discussion of the role Federal, State, and local governments play in preventing gun violence.

At the national level, Representative Mike Thompson is an advocate for common-sense gun legislation in his role as Chair of the House Gun Violence Prevention Task Force.

Dr. Andre Campbell has spent his career treating the most difficult traumas at San Francisco’s only level-one trauma center, ZSFG. Through witnessing the destruction guns cause, he has become a vocal advocate of gun violence prevention programs, most recently speaking out against the proposed reversal of the assault weapon ban in California that has saved countless lives over the past three decades.
