On 5 October, we will unveil a major update to the GRI Standards, including launching our first Sector Standard, which will strengthen the very foundations of all reporting through GRI. The updated Universal Standards will enable the highest level of transparency for organizational impacts on the economy, environment, and people. More guidance for determining material topics and greater clarity on the reporting principles, requirements and structure will ensure GRI reporting is more globally consistent and comparable than ever before.
The updated Universal Standards will mean GRI provides the first and only comprehensive global reporting standards that fully reflect the due diligence expectations for sustainability impacts - including those on human rights as set out in authoritative intergovernmental instruments by the UN and OECD. They will also help any company respond to emerging regulatory changes and growing stakeholder demands for sustainability disclosure, including expectations related to double materiality.
