1. Lecture Title: Backyard Chicken Behavior
2. Lecture Objective Statement: Backyard Chicken Behavior will provide information on the importance of providing the opportunity for chickens to engage in positive behaviors, as well as how to reduce nuisance behaviors through behavioral and husbandry management.
Speaker: Dr. Richard Blatchford, PhD
Dr Blatchford's research focus is on the husbandry, behavior, and welfare of small to large scale poultry production. He is particularly interested in understanding the challenges facing small scale and backyard poultry flocks as well as the impacts of housing systems on poultry health and welfare on large scale facilities. He is also interested in developing on farm assessment tools for producers to monitor the health and welfare of their own flocks.
