Geopolitics in Natural Gas Trading in Central Eastern Europe. Developments in Strategic Infrastructure
“Gas Wars” between Russia and Europe became common part of european geopolitic game, especially during the heavy winters. In mid 2000’ new plan for strategic infrastructure developments were introduced (new pipelines between Poland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, LNG ports as well as storage facilitity). Due to LNG ports in Świnoujście (Poland) and Klaipėda (Lituania) dependends on Russian Natural Gas is not an issue any more. More than 100 LNG cargos were dilivered to polish LNG port. Geopolitics in Nat Gas trading is important to understand all parties – Russians, Western European (such as Germany and Italy) as well CEE region countries. Should CEE region buy Nat Gas from Russia or LNG from diffrent sources (eg. U.S. Market). Is development of Nord Stream II the real problem for CEE region or rather for U.S. LNG exporters?
