Ian Parkes took over as Chief Executive of ELBA in April 2016. His career spans the public, private and not for profit sectors. Formerly Chief Executive of AZTEC, he founded SOA Development in 2001. SOA Development was an independent practice specialising in project management, strategy development, partnership development, and organisation governance. Clients were drawn from the public, not for profit and the private sectors. He was involved with the London Olympic and Paralympic Games and development of growth strategies in London and the south east. Strongly committed to helping children and young people meet their full potential, Ian is a serial school and college governor. He is Chair of the Governing Body at Graveney School in Tooting, and Vice Chair of Graveney Trust. He has been chair of governors at two inner London primary schools. He is Chair of Barking and Dagenham Giving, one of London’s place based local giving organisations, was a Commissioner on Waltham Forest’
Richard Martin
Director @byrne dean
Richard leads the mental health work at leading workplace consultancy byrne dean. Richard was formerly a city law firm partner before mental illness in 2011 led to a month in hospital and two years in recovery. He now works primarily around mental health in the workplace, delivering training to organisations around the world. He leads byrne dean’s work on the Mindful Business Charter and is co-chair of the steering committee of the Lord Mayor of London’s This is Me campaign using story telling to reduce the stigma around mental illness. He is a coach and a mental health first aid instructor and in 2018 published a memoir of his experience of mental illness and recovery – This Too Will Pass – Anxiety in a professional world.
