Description
Today, climate is not culturally relevant. To you, this may be hard to believe. You probably encounter climate topics very frequently, in the news, podcasts, conversations, newsletters, and events you engage with everyday. However, large groups of people rarely engage with climate content at all. Even when they do, the narratives mostly focus on selling the problem, painting a vision of the future that leaves people uninspired at best, anxious and paralyzed at worst. They fail to engage people around what they care about, including a vision for the future that feels relevant and good to them. It's time to bring climate to culture, instead of bringing culture to climate. To do so, we must first understand who these un- and under-engaged audiences are, where they gather, what drives them, and how climate communicators and creators can reach anyone with stories that inspire. Join us as we share the findings of our first-of-its-kind research and hear from core collaborators about how they are integrating these insights to build new, culture-first approaches to climate communications. This 60-min learning session is designed for climate practitioners, and anyone interested in culture or narrative change work. Expect some a-ha moments, actionable insights, and new tools and maps to navigate the next frontier of climate comms.
