In the first 100 days of 2020, 90% of learners worldwide had their education disrupted and 188 countries shut down their school systems. Real change often takes place in deep crisis and there is an astonishing opportunity at the moment to bring about real change in education systems around the world. The future is going to be more about pairing the artificial intelligence of computers with the cognitive, social and emotional skills and values of humans. Educational success will be increasingly associated with identity, agency and purpose. Technology will be a key factor in the success of these reforms in many parts of the world, and can make the reform process more inclusive than it has ever been before. However, technological innovation in education needs to be accompanied by changes in what we value most in education. We will need education approaches that can drive curiosity, compassion and open-mindedness if we are to meet the considerable health, economic and societal challenges this century has already produced. There is a momentum in the current moment to help reshape curricula and learning environments to the evolving needs of the 21st century. During this one-hour webinar, senior education leaders will have the chance to hear from host Dominic Regester (Program Director, Salzburg Global Seminar; Karanga Executive, Austria) and panelists Andreas Schleicher, (Director, Directorate of Education and Skills, OECD, France) and Emiliana Rodriguez (Co-Founder/Education Director, AttentaMente, Mexico). They will be sharing their thoughts on the following questions: 1. How has COVID-19 changed thinking about where and how learning can take place? Will these changes be long-lasting? 2. How has the crisis affected thinking about social and emotional learning skills and competencies? 3. How can senior education leaders build support for these kinds of reform and hear from more voices?
