Oral Health Access for Residents of Public Housing: Bridging the gap between Oral health needs and access to care
Preventive care and other early intervention services help people stay healthy and avoid more costly care. Many determinants impact our oral health including obstacles in getting access to dental care. Good oral health has an effect on your functionality, in many ways, from the way you communicate to your self-consciousness. Poor dental health can have an affect on your overall health. Identifying social determinants of health and different barriers to care can help address oral health disparities and promote overall health equity.

Hosted by the National Network for Oral Health Access (NNOHA) and the National Nurse-Led Care Consortium (NNCC) this webinar will discuss promising practices for access to oral health care that accounts for the unique needs of special populations like residents of public housing with a focus on clinical tools and other ways to support dental health access. We will feature leaders in medical and dental integration. Attendees will learn how this organization implemented mobile dentistry programs and engaged medical team members and health center leadership. Participants will also walk away with an understanding of how care teams support oral health education and treatment, and best practices for integration into primary care at health centers serving residents of public housing and other special populations.
