Lori Becker
Chief Operating Officer and Director of Communications @Starkloff Disability Institute
Prior to taking on the role of COO in 2016, Ms. Becker served as SDI’s Director of Development and Communications. She has 18 years of experience in public relations, community engagement, and political campaign strategy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Organizational Development from Saint Louis University and Certificate in Political Communication. Ms. Becker has a condition called Stargardt’s Disease that caused her to become legally blind at age 15. Inspired by her experience as a member of the Starkloff Career Academy Class of 2013, Ms. Becker joined the SDI staff to pursue the organization’s mission to challenge ableism and advance opportunities for people with disabilities. Ms. Becker is a board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, Leadership St. Louis, the Spanish American Girls Society, and a founding member of FestAbility: A celebration of disabilities.
Steven J. Foelsch
Director of Disability Studies @Starkloff Disability Institute
Steven J. Foelsch is the Director of Disability Studies at Starkloff Disability Institute. He is also a Disability Studies professor at Maryville University. Steve has decades of experience in the history of the Disability Rights movement and the political and economic effects of disability. Steve also serves as the commissioner to St. Louis' Affordable Housing Commission.
