CONVERSATION | Artist and Writer Ray Faust (1900–1993) with Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett and Barry Faust | Thursday, April 27 @ 7 p.m. EST
Description
Join curator Barbara Kirshenblatt-Gimblett and Barry Faust (grandson of Ray Faust) for a conversation about artist and writer Ray Faust (1900–1993.) Ray was dedicated to Yiddish—the language and culture. Whether with pen or brush, she recorded what she remembered about growing up in her beloved hometown in Poland. She immigrated to the United States in 1920 and died in New York City in 1993. Ray lived in the Bronx—the Bronx Botanical Garden was immortalized in many of her paintings. This program is presented in conjunction with the opening of an exhibit of Ray Faust’s work opening at the Yiddish Book Center on April 16, 2023.
A collection of her paintings and drawings was donated to the Yiddish Book Center by her grandson Barry Faust.
This event will be presented via Zoom. Space is limited—registration is required.
