Fall 2020 Virtual Field Trip: Harvest (elementary)
This LIVE virtual field trip will connect elementary students with an Ohio soybean farmer for a ride-along in his combine during soybean harvest.

Students will:

- Get a live tour of an Ohio soybean farm during harvest
- Learn how a combine harvester works
- Learn what happens to soybeans after they leave the field
- Discover the wide variety of uses for soybeans in our everyday lives

This trip is available to watch two ways so that students can participate whether they are in the classroom or learning remotely at home.

IF YOU ARE A SCHOOL TEACHER/ADMINISTRATOR, please complete and submit the form on this page to register for this trip. Upon registration, you’ll receive an email with instructions for connecting via Zoom if you will be in the classroom the day of the trip. You’ll also receive the link you can share with students to watch the live stream of the tour should they be joining remotely from home.

Nathan Eckel
Soybean Farmer @Wood County, Ohio
Nathan Eckel of Wood County runs Eckel Grain Farms and currently serves on the Ohio Soybean Council Board of Trustees where he is chair of the Communication/Education Committee. He farms nearly 2000 acres of soybeans, corn and wheat. He earned a B.S. from The Ohio State University where he studied Agricultural Business and Applied Economics. In addition, Nathan is a co-owner of Eckel Cattle Company, raising 1200 head of cattle. He also sits on the board of directors for Luckey Farmers, Inc., serves as a 4-H advisor and is a member of Wood County Young Farmers and Northwest Ohio Tractor Pullers.
