Dr. Graham C. Boettcher, the R. Hugh Daniel Director of the Birmingham Museum of Art in Birmingham, Alabama, will deliver the Annual Raymond Beecher Lecture hosted by the Thomas Cole National Historic Site.
Dr. Boettcher will discuss Thomas Cole's painting, "Hunters in a Landscape" (1824-25), a major work gifted to the Thomas Cole Site from Susan G. A. Warner. Dr. Warner is Chairman of the Board of the Warner Foundation, founded by the late, legendary art collector Jack Warner. "Hunters in a Landscape" is one of Cole’s earliest works. It dates to the launch of the artist's career and his first visits to the Hudson River Valley and Catskill Mountains.
This event is free but reservations are required.
