How to Nail Writing Backstory
Backstory is arguably one of the toughest elements of craft for writers to nail, which is problematic since almost every story requires some degree of backstory.

Done badly, it can signal to an agent that you don't know what you're doing, immediately making them stop reading your work. Done well, it doesn't even feel like backstory.

Learn practical ways of mastering the art of it including:

*how soon you can introduce it
*whether backstory should take the form of a flashback, a new scene, a new chapter, or a dual timeline structure
*how you can organically trigger a flashback scene
*how to determine if the backstory is necessary
*how long backstory scenes/exposition should be
*how to make backstory relevant to what's happening in the current storyline
*ways to make backstory as compelling as the current narrative
