For years, Oregon Business and Industry and the Portland Business Alliance have partnered under the Oregon Business Plan in taking our federal agenda to Oregon’s congressional delegation in Washington, D.C. This year, we are taking our D.C. fly-in online, with a series of virtual events featuring the Oregon delegation.
In the second event in the series, Oregon’s U.S. Senator Jeff Merkley will discuss opportunities that come with infrastructure investments, the benefits of investing in wildfire prevention, key opportunities for Oregon with the American Rescue Plan federal funds, and more on April 21, from 1 to 2 p.m.
Prior to running for office, Senator Merkley led several nonprofits in Portland, including Portland Habitat for Humanity. During his term as Speaker of the Oregon House of Representatives, he passed key legislative changes in education, LGBTQ+ rights, fiscal policy, and more. Senator Merkley is a member of the Appropriations Committee (chair of the Department of Interior subcommittee), the Environment and Public Works Committee, the Budget Committee, and the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
