Preprints allow researchers to take control of when they disseminate their work to the scientific community, a feature which can be critical for early career researchers as they build their portfolio of research contributions and publications. Preprints also allow early career researchers to expand their network by making their work available to broad audiences, and by joining communities with an interest in open science.
