Part I: Impact of Human Trafficking on the API Community

Description: This training will provide members of the Asian-Pacific Islander (API) community and organizations serving the API community with an overview of the impact that human trafficking has on this community. The training will cover what trafficking looks like among diverse populations with a focus on the API community, vulnerabilities, recruiting, intersectionality, the impact of COVID-19, and the needs of survivors.

Part II: A Survivor-Centered Approach to Identifying and Serving Trafficking Victims Involved in Illicit Massage
Mar 18, 2021, at 12pm PST (1.5 MCLE Elimination of Bias-pending approval)

Description: Human trafficking survivors come from many cultural backgrounds. It is incumbent upon social service and legal services providers in the anti-trafficking space to tailor their services to meet the unique needs of their clients taking into account their cultural background. This training will offer guidance to organizations serving API victims and survivors on community outreach, trauma-informed, cultural and linguistic awareness, and supporting your staff in doing this work.

Part III: A Survivor-Centered Approach to Investigation & Prosecution of Businesses Involved in Trafficking
Apr 15, 2021, at 12pm PST (1.5 MCLE Elimination of Bias-pending approval)

Description: Investigation and prosecution of businesses engaged in human trafficking requires taking a culturally and linguistically aware approach to these operations. This is critical to avoid traumatization of victims and increase the likelihood of a successful investigation and prosecution. This virtual training will bring together national experts to share their knowledge and experience with trauma-informed and victim-centered investigations and prosecutions.
