Rumbi Petrozzello is the Senior Director of Consulting at Seramount, a data-driven strategic professional services firm, dedicated to advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Rumbi currently serves as the President of the New York State Society of CPAs, the first woman of color to hold the position in the organization's almost 125-year history. Rumbi's journey as a CPA has included working in public accounting, in private industry, and as a forensic accountant. She is Certified in Financial Forensics (CFF), and a Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE). Rumbi has been recognized and honored for her DE&I work and has been on countless panels. She has also been interviewed and quoted by numerous news outlets, such as The New York Times, New York Post, CBS, and The Rachel Maddow Show. Rumbi and her husband live in Arverne, New York, where he surfs and she runs. She also loves reading, podcasts, all manner of sport, and traveling. Rumbi dreams of becoming a Double Dutch skipper one day.
Creating a strong future in the CPA profession, requires that we understand what diversity, equity, and inclusion mean, in the context of our profession, looking back at its history, to appreciate our present and building strategies for that future. The solutions are likely as varied as the dimensions of diversity we each have, but we shall delve into a few of these during this conversation.
