Melissa Anne Hart is an American Lawyer and Consultant. She was a Republican member of the United States House of Representatives from 2001 to 2007, representing western Pennsylvania's 4th congressional district. She was the first Republican woman to represent Pennsylvania at the federal level.
Before her time in Congress, Ms. Hart served for 10 years in the Pennsylvania State Senate, where she chaired the Senate Finance committee. In November 2000, Ms. Hart was elected to the House of Representatives from Western Pennsylvania, where she represented seven counties near the city of Pittsburgh. During her tenure, she served on the House Ways & Means, Financial Services and Judiciary Committees. She also served as a Deputy Whip, and Co-Chaired the 2004 Republican National Convention in New York.
James A. McDermott is an American politician who was the U.S. Representative for Washington's 7th congressional district from 1989 to 2017. He is a member of the Democratic Party. The 7th District includes most of Seattle,Vashon Island, Tukwila, Burien, Shoreline, Lake Forest Park, Lynnwood, Mountlake Terrace, Woodway, and Edmonds. He served on the House Ways and Means Committee and was a member of the House Progressive Caucus.
