For many, virtual spaces have helped us stay connected during COVID-19; however, there are preconceptions about virtual accessibility and people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). In this webinar, we will discuss the steps taken to navigate access to the online world for people with IDD. As well as a discussion around the affects of COVID-19 on increased isolation and loneliness for people with IDD. Therefore, the need to focus on addressing these concerns will be shared, along with key strategies and skill building techniques that can be used to help support people with IDD through accessing virtual services safely. Our goal is to help individuals regain a sense of belonging and connection with their community during these difficult times. We are looking forward to sharing resources with you on basic internet etiquette to help guide direct support professionals through this process as well.
