When YOU are the story: A Conversation with Amanda Knox
NAMLE Executive Director, Michelle Ciulla Lipkin knows all too well what happens when your personal life becomes a news story. After losing her father in 1988 in the bombing of Pan Am 103, Michelle’s life played out on the screen through decades of investigation, anniversaries and grief. Inspired after reading Who Owns Amanda Knox? in the Atlantic in July 2021, Michelle connected with Amanda Knox about her incredible insight on how media narratives are shaped and why it’s important for both news and entertainment media to realize that they are often writing about real people with real lives. Join Michelle and Amanda for an inspiring conversation about what one learns when they are the news.

This event is sponsored by Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
