Bio: Tammy Bernasky is a PhD Candidate in Critical Disability Studies at York University. She is also the Interim Provincial Coordinator for the Ontario Cluster of CRWDP. Tammy has been working on disability rights at the local, national, and international levels for more than 15 years. She has worked on disability projects in the areas of human rights, employment, accessibility, community-based rehabilitation, and gender-based violence.
Presentation Description: Tammy will present on her PhD work which involved interviewing community advocates and organizers who work to resist gender-based violence in the disability community.
Approaching this work from an anti-oppressive and intersectional perspective, Tammy will focus her presentation on intersectional oppressions and analysis. She will share her experience in working through these issues from a researcher’s perspective.
