Helping Libraries & Schools in Times of Crisis & Closure
Millions of physical books became instantly inaccessible when libraries and schools closed in response to COVID-19. Please join Chris Freeland, Director of Open Libraries, from Internet Archive to learn how libraries can use controlled digital lending and the temporary National Emergency Library to reach patrons while their libraries are closed due to COVID-19 and other crises.

Attendees will learn how books come into the Internet Archive from library and bookseller donations, how they are scanned in our scanning centers, how they are made available to readers via controlled digital lending, and how they are connected to Wikipedia and other resources. Libraries will also learn how they can leverage the Open Libraries project to provide access to these books for their patrons, as well as how Open Libraries can be used to make decisions about physical collections.
