Post pandemic, we are witnessing a lot of flutter and restlessness in the arena of human resources. Great Resignation, Quiet Quitting, Mass Layoffs and Moonlighting have been some of the trending hashtags of 2022.
‘WORKING BY THE LIGHT OF THE MOON’ apparently is the original meaning of the term ‘Moonlighting’ as given in the dictionary of etymology. Moonlighting as a practice is not new but can be traced to the bygone days with professionals pursuing dual streams of income generation in fields like medicine, teaching, fine arts, research and consultancy and the like. However, in current times, moonlighting has stirred up a hornet’s nest especially after several Indian IT behemoths sounded the alarm and took stern actions against the moonlighters. Consequentially, there is a lot of buzz making the rounds on moonlighting as individuals and firms becomes more vocal on the ethics and implications of side hustles and side jobs aka moonlighting.
