Kade Machen
Managing Director, Financial Institutions Group @Stephens Inc
Mr. Machen joined Stephens in 2015 as a member of the firm’s Financial Institutions Group to extend investment banking coverage in the Southwestern United States for banks and thrifts. Prior to joining Stephens, he worked as a Director for Sterne Agee and a Vice President for Keefe, Bruyette & Woods advising bank clients on M&A and capital markets transactions. He has been involved in 27 completed bank M&A transactions with an aggregate deal value of approximately $7.5 billion. M&A transaction experience includes buy and sell-side whole-bank transactions, branch acquisitions and branch divestitures, FDIC assisted transactions, and 363 bankruptcy transactions. In addition, he has served as an advisor on 29 completed bank capital markets transactions with aggregate proceeds of $2.7 billion including nine IPOs. Capital markets transaction experience includes initial public offerings, public and private common stock follow-on offerings, and the issuance of subordinated debt.
Christopher Murray
Managing Director, Financial Services Group @Piper Sandler Companies
Mr. Murray advises financial institutions primarily in the Southwest and Midwest regions of the United States on various strategic matters, including mergers and acquisitions and capital-raising. Previously, he was a principal in the investment banking group of Sandler O'Neill + Partners, L.P. He has more than 30 years of investment banking experience. Mr. Murray’s recent M&A experience includes providing a fairness opinion to Independent Bank Group in its merger with Texas Capital Bancshares, advising Reliance Bancshares in its merger with Simmons First National Corporation, The Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines in its merger with The Federal Home Loan Bank of Seattle, Pulaski Financial in its merger with First Busey, OmniAmerican Bancorp in its sale to Southside Bancshares, ViewPoint Financial Group in its merger with LegacyTexas Group, Bank of Houston and Carlile Banchsares in sales to Independent Bank Group.
Dan Bass
Managing Director & Head of the Southwest Region of Investment Banking @Performance Trust Capital Partners
Performance Trust has a 25+ year history of providing balance sheet strategy solutions to the financial industry through education and is based in Chicago, IL. Prior to joining Performance Trust, Dan was a Managing Director at FBR Capital Markets and Carson Medlin Investment Bankers where he has been a consistent leader in M&A deals announced in Texas since 2007. Previously, Dan was the Senior Vice President of mergers and acquisitions with Compass Bancshares, Inc., a $30 billion Sunbelt-based financial services company which operates branches in Texas, Alabama, Arizona, Florida, Colorado, and New Mexico. Dan’s primary focus was to identify, negotiate, analyze and price approximately 30 acquisition prospects per year. Types of prospects include commercial banks and thrifts, insurance agencies, and investment advisory firms. Previous to joining Compass Bank, Dan had many years of consulting and regulatory experience and provided a wide range of services to the financial industry.
