Chemport Connect Live: Biobased technologies and the Valley of Death
Welcome to our registrationpage of our live broadcast for Oktober 12. This episode we will talk about the development of biobased technologies and how to get them trough the so called Valley of Death.

During the show we will talk with managing director Joost Pâques of Paques Biomaterials, Errit Bekkering bussiness developer at Chemport Europe and Marco Rupp responsible for public affairs & sustainability within the Biobased Industries Consortium in Europe, about how a company like Paques Biomaterials can succesfully overcome the so called Valley of Death.

Chemport Europe is a region in the Northern Netherlands where there are great opportunities in the field of plastics. As an important chemical cluster for the development of circular and/or biobased solutions, we are working hard to close the chain and contribute to solving the problems that we have worldwide.

One of these innovative techniques is Paques Biomaterials. This startup, is working hard on developing and realising a demo plant in Emmen (in collaboration with regional and local government) to further enhance their technique on turning industrial waste water into the bioplastic PHA. Parallel to this they are planning ahead and after the demo plant they want to build a 10 kilotons per year commercial plant that will be up and running by the start of 2024.

In contrast to fossil based plastics, Paques Biomaterials has come up with a unique process to make bioplastics that are fully biodegradable. Unique selling point in all of this is that these bioplastics can 100% biodegrade in nature. With this, Paques Biomaterials is taking an important step in being part of the solution to no longer pollute the environment and still be able to use plastics as our society is only asking for more.
