CASE DISCUSSION - Status Dystonicus Part II: interactive case-based discussions
Description
The purpose of this webinar is to encourage clinical thinking and help familiarise you with recognising worsening and improving clinical features of severe dystonic crises.
The first part of this case-based discussion will be to implement the Dystonia Severity Action Plan (DSAP) (presented at the EPNS webinar 08.02.23) by classifying six scenarios. It is anticipated that these will be sent to participants ‘live’ during the webinar and we hope to receive your 'live’ answers on-screen (like a voting poll). Each case will be discussed once participant answers have been recorded to maximise learning.
The second part will consist of six clinical scenarios of evolving dystonia severity which will have a graphical display of dystonia severity according to DSAP, Paediatric Early Warning System classification of clinical severity and medication doses: all displayed in graphical format. For this part of the webinar, we invite participants to comment on the clinical problem and suggest clinical responses, which we can discuss and scroll forward to find out 'what actually happened’!

He was President of the British Paediatric Neurology Association 2016-18; is Co-Chair with Michel Willemsen of the EPNS Movement Disorders Group; Chair of the EPNS Membership Committee and a Member of the EPNS Scientific Committee and has led the Complex Motor Disorders Service (CMDS) since 2005 at the Evelina London Children’s Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’s NHS Foundation Trust within King’s Health Partners. Together with neurosurgical colleagues at King’s College Hospital, the CMDS have explored how patient characteristics and outcome scales can contribute to improved motor and functional outcomes after deep brain stimulation for childhood dystonia arising from genetic and acquired causes, including cerebral palsy. https://www.researchgate.net/profile/Jean-Pierre_Lin Esra Serdaroglu (Dr @Gazi University, Ankara, Turkey) Esra Serdaroglu, MD PhD, is a pediatric neurologist in Gazi University, Turkiye. She graduated from Hacettepe University. She was selected for Turkiye’s first MD-PhD program and completed a thesis on Neurofibromatosis in the Department of Medical Biology. She received an EPNS fellowship award to visit Complex Motor Disorders Service in Evelina London Children's Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Jean-Pierre Lin. She is interested in the semiological assessment and management of movement disorders (especially dystonia), the outcome measures and deep brain stimulation practices. She is actively involved in YEPNS, FLICNA (future leaders of ICNA, former Chair), and pediatric special interest group of Movement Disorder Society (steering committee member).
