Please join Hon. Gina Jones and Loretta Oleksy (JLAP) for a live webinar and panel discussion on this extremely relevant topic --"Caught Between Novel and Normal: Well-Being in Difficult Times."
We are living in the in-between: that awkward, uncomfortable, and sometimes scary place between no longer and not yet. Sociologists and other fancy people call this liminal space, from the Latin limen, meaning “threshold.” Almost a year into pandemic times the novelty has worn off and we may be expecting ourselves to be back to normal, but normal hasn’t arrived yet. So how do we navigate this time, keep our sanity, and get things done? In this session we will discuss lawyer well-being with reference to its impact on professional conduct, including competence, diligence, and communication, with reference to the corresponding rules. Participants will gain an understanding of the connection between self-compassion and professional competence and learn to dispel myths connecting self-criticism and perfectionism with success. This session will also provide an overview of services available through the Indiana Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program, with special emphasis on Admission and Discipline Rule 31 and JLAP confidentiality.
