Mad Science Presents: Are All Systems Go? Webb Space Telescope Launch! In collaboration with NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center
Description
Mad Science is proudly hosting a FREE, live online event with special guest Dr. Begoña Vila, an astrophysicist and a lead Systems Engineer at NASA.
In this 1-hour event, children between the ages of 5-12 years old will make a galaxy pinwheel and our guest speaker will be sharing cool space facts and answering kids' questions!
Pinwheel instructions can be downloaded here: https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/pinwheel-galaxy/en/
Everyone will have the chance to win one of four Loop Lab prizes, Mad Science's STEM subscription box for children. Learn more about Loop Lab at shop.madscience.com.
Before or after the event, kids can also participate in NASA's Unfold the Universe art challenge! NASA’s biggest and most powerful space telescope ever is launching soon! The James Webb Space Telescope, or Webb, will travel a million miles away to reveal the universe as never seen before. It will look at the first stars and galaxies, study distant planets around other stars, solve mysteries in our solar system, and discover what we can’t even imagine. Its revolutionary technology will be able to look back in time at 13.5 billion years of our cosmic history. What do you think we’ll discover when we #UnfoldTheUniverse? Show us what you believe the Webb telescope will reveal by creating art. Tag us @madsciencegroup #UnfoldTheUniverse. Learn more about the challenge here: https://www.nasa.gov/content/goddard/2021/nasa-james-webb-space-telescope-unfold-the-universe-art-challenge.
You can also share it on Instagram or on our Facebook event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/648342519501360/?active_tab=discussion
We look forward to seeing your creations!
