As margins continue to tighten in the cattle businesses, it’s critical to analyze each component of the ranch enterprise to identify each enterprise’s profitability. Overall ranch profitability is the sum of various ranch activities and knowing the contribution of each ranch enterprise, whether cow/calf, hay production, heifer development, land, etc., it is essential to determining overall profitability. Tris Munsick, of the Plank Stewardship Imitative, will share a combination of academic and real-world knowledge from his experiences on both small and large ranches in the West.
