The seminar addresses the question of justice for Palestine through international law and will illustrate how impunity for abuses over the decades is enabling Israeli conquest of Palestine in contravention of article 2(4) of the UN Charter.
Introduction by Henrik Carlborg, chairperson The Palestine Solidarity Association of Sweden
Dr Alice Panepinto from Queens University Belfast, will provide a 'whistle-stop' international law timeline for Palestine: 1948 (nakba) / 1967 (occupation) / 1990s (Oslo) / present (including the problems with the fragmentation of Palestine into Gaza / East Jerusalem and West Bank).
She will also talk about the displacement of Palestinian Bedouin communities in central West Bank and the Jerusalem area as an illustration for Palestinian dispossession.
The final part will consider the possibilities and limitations of the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice in delivering justice for Palestinians.
