The WWCode Python track invites you for a casual Fireside Chat with Mariatta Wijaya, PyCon US 2023 Conference Chair.

We will be discussing their Call for Proposals process, PyCon’s unique audience of Python users and community members, from beginners just learning the language to the leading developers in the field to the contributors who guide the development of the language itself, and PyCon’s 20th anniversary.


PyCon US is the largest and longest-running annual gathering for the community using and developing the open-source Python programming language. It is produced by the Python Software Foundation, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing and promoting Python. Through PyCon US, the PSF advances its mission of growing the international community of Python programmers.

Mariatta Wijaya

Mariatta has over 15 years of experience in the software industry. She is a Python core developer and contributes to various open source projects. She has been a keynote speaker at various Python conferences around the world. She currently works as Senior Developer Relations Engineer at Google. For her contributions to the Python community, she received the Community Service Award from Python Software Foundation.
