Aaron Turner (Artist )
Aaron Turner is an Arkansas-based artist and educator. He uses photography to pursue personal stories of people of color in two main areas of the United States: the Arkansas and Mississippi Deltas. Turner also uses the view camera to create still life studies on race, history, blackness as material, and the role of the Black artist. His awards include an En Foco Photography Fellowship (2019), Light Work Artists-in-Residence (2018), and Project Space Residency at the Visual Studies Workshop (2020). Turner is currently a research fellow in photography and coordinator of The Center for Photographers of Color at the School of Art at the University of Arkansas. He received his MA from Ohio University and his MFA from Mason Gross School of the Arts at Rutgers University.
