Almost 70% of employees who disclosed their experience around miscarriage and infertility said they received inadequate support from their employers, including insensitive comments, and even discrimination. Not only do employees suffer when organisations are uninformed on these issues, but workplaces do too.
Katy Schnitzler, Founder of MIST Workshops, will be talking about how companies can open up discussion to tackle the taboo around these issues, ensure employees feel safeguarded no matter their situation, whilst also clarifying what rights already exist.
Katy Schnitzler is an academic and specialist in the areas of pregnancy loss, infertility and childlessness. Her work is academically informed by her PhD research, investigating workplace experiences following miscarriage. Katy successfully secured the prestigious ESRC DTP scholarship from The Open, Oxford and Brunel Universities to complete this important research.
Alongside her work with organisations, Katy also provides workshops to HE institutions for healthcare students. These sessions facilitate future professionals to better support patients experiencing pregnancy loss.
