THE MESSIAH

Jesus was originally proclaimed as the Messiah, as his designation, the Christ, the anointed one, demonstrates. We will examine the concept of the Messiah, first as it appears in the Hebrew Bible, then through rabbinic and Christian writings. Our last text will be the Mishneh Torah of Maimonides, examining his definitions. We will then look at how the denominations of Judaism today address the subject.
