AGE-WELL and EPIC-AT Webinar: Harnessing evidence and insights from citizens and systems leaders to spark actions towards enhancing access to AgeTech
This presentation will share insights about ongoing efforts to strengthen evidence-support systems in Canada that are based on implementation priorities from the Global Commission on Evidence. This will be paired with examples of policy issues (equitable access to assistive technology, tech use in long-term care and the use of remote-monitoring technology to help older adults stay at home) where evidence was used to inform deliberations among citizens and system leaders to identify actions that should be prioritized.

Speaker:

Mike Wilson, Assistant Director, McMaster Health Forum | Mike Wilson’s research is focused on supporting the use of research evidence by health system decision-makers, including policymakers and stakeholders such as community-based organizations. This includes conducting syntheses (e.g., systematic reviews, overviews of reviews, rapid syntheses, citizen briefs and evidence briefs) that can be used by health system decision-makers to address pressing health system issues; convening citizen panels to identify citizens’ values and preferences for addressing health-system issues; and convening stakeholder dialogues to support collective problem solving among policymakers, stakeholders and researchers. Mike developed and continues to lead the McMaster Health Forum’s Rapid Response and is conducting an evaluation of it.
