The Friends of the Cranford Public Library invite everyone to attend a live theatrical performance - from the safety and comfort of your living room. New Jersey’s own Theater Project will present a virtual script-in-hand reading of an original short play: "Wolf and Badger" by Michael John McGoldrick. The reading will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience, director, playwright and cast. Funds benefiting the Theater Project have been provided by the Friends of the Cranford Public Library.
Synopsis: Wolf and Badger tells the story of two brothers from an economically depressed town who turn their frustrations on one another: one brother is ready to leave, the other resents his escape. Into this combustible mix comes a drug-addicted friend who tells a not-entirely-believable story about how to make some quick cash. A play about shifting alliances and fraternal bonds. Set during the height of our nation's opioid epidemic, this play tells a story about a forgotten part of America.
Michael John McGoldrick's play Wolf and Badger will be produced by the Main Street Players in Miami, FL, in the spring of 2021 (this same play was also a finalist in the 2018 Trustus Theatre Playwrights Festival). His play Allies was selected for the 2020 Residency at The New Jersey Play Lab and will receive a staged reading in Up Theater’s Renewal Reading Series in 2021. His play The Moment After was a Finalist in City Theatre’s National Award for Short Playwriting Contest in 2019 and a National Finalist in the Gary Garrison MFA Ten-Minute Play Competition sponsored by KCACTF in April 2018.
