Part Three of Three: Empowerment and Collective Leadership, Survivor-Centered Strategies Webinar

Increasingly, survivor-serving organizations are practicing power sharing, collective leadership, co-director models, and other forms of co-designing and decision-making approaches. These transitions are a way to engage staff as leaders at all levels of the organization, build stronger teams, support professional development, and create an organizational culture centered in equity.  

For this 90-minute webinar, two culturally-specific organizations will share about their collective structures and empowerment-based leadership journeys, strategies, lessons learned, and tips for practice.   

DeafHope has a collective leadership structure consisting of Empowerment Directors. Their model promotes survivor-centered advocacy and community accountability at the forefront of the movement to end violence in the Deaf Community. DeafHope will share about their evolution with respect to adaptation of policies, communication systems, and financial management to reflect as much of a co-leadership framework as possible.

Mujeres Unidas y Activas (MUA) practices their value of shared leadership with a structure built around the concepts of distributed and collective leadership. Their abilities and shared work are complimented across their internal Leadership Team, work teams, and leadership committees within the community membership. MUA will share about their shared leadership model and capacity building strategies that have strengthen their organization and participants of their programs, who are mostly survivors of gender-based violence.
