Marvelwood's optional Learning Support programs provide the tools that help students with learning challenges experience academic success, increase self-confidence, and acquire strong learning and self-advocacy skills needed in college and beyond. Individualized support for all types of learning challenges is the hallmark of the program, including support for students with dyslexia and language-based learning differences, employing Orton-Gillingham (OG) -- a structured, multi-sensory approach to teaching reading and writing.
Kindonan's Camp Dunnabeck is an academic camp for boys and girls age 8 to 16 with dyslexia and language-based learning differences. Boarding, day, and online options are available. Camp Dunnabeck balances 1:1 Orton-Gillingham language remediation with outstanding recreational activities. Many students working to recover academic skills lost during school closures and remote learning will benefit from the program. Pre- and post-battery of standardized and criterion-based testing will help families gauge progress and determine readiness for school in the fall. Founded in 1955, Camp Dunnabeck is now located on Marvelwood's 83-acre mountain-top campus.
