You have chosen to construct a new building and would like to know the most recent energy efficiency requirements developed by ASHRAE. ASHRAE 90.1 Energy Standard for Buildings Except Low-Rise Residential Buildings is where you go to find these requirements. Understanding this information will allow for a highly energy efficient building as well as meeting the statutory requirements of the local energy codes.
This presentation will provide details on the changes to ASHRAE 90.1-2019 from the previous version. The information will provide details on the changes to the various sections and how they will affect this energy code. The sections covered by the changes are the Administration and Enforcement; Building Envelope; Lighting; Mechanical; Energy Cost Budget Method; and the Performance Rating Method (Annex G). The changes vary from major new additions to editorial changes to improve clarification and understanding. The focus will be on the major new requirements and how they will affect the building. A review of how ASHRAE 90.1 is adopted by the various states as well as included in other building codes will be shown.
