The Shareholder Commons and the 2021 Proxy Season: Supporting Benefit Corporation Conversion and Other System-First Proposals

The Shareholder Commons (TSC) was delegated to file, negotiate, and/or present 22 shareholder resolutions this year, at least 14 of which are expected to go to a vote, including a dozen proposals asking companies to convert to public benefit corporations (PBCs), a corporate form that requires companies to account for impacts on society and the environment.

Rather than focusing on company materiality, all of the proposals ask companies to consider the systematic risks they create for diversified portfolios. In this webinar, TSC’s executive team will explain why these proposals represent an important opportunity to redefine shareholder stewardship.
