Asia, home to more than half of the world’s population, is undergoing a rapid transformation in its energy landscape, with renewable energy - playing a central role in sustainable development, particularly in rural and remote areas. Vietnam – which increased its solar and wind power generation tenfold between 2015 and 2023 – is 10-fold growth of wind and solar power between 2015 and 2023 -- is at the frontlines of this transformation. This rapid progress has been propelled by supportive policies that have encouraged the of bottom-up adoption of renewable energy, , by farmers operating shrimp farms, and teachers running classes in rural schools and local authorities launching green public transportation, among others. Climate and environmental journalists in Asia, please join us for this webinar to learn more about the factors behind Vietnam’s success in expanding renewable energy, as well as the role of multi-stakeholders, including the private sector and local communities, in driving the acceptance of wind and solar.
