Mastering supramolecular interactions to free electrons and generate hybrid van der Waals heterostructures

Abstract:
In this seminar I will talk about the importance of controlling supramolecular interactions and mainly focus on two cases.

First, I will describe how a subtle change in chemical structure can give rise to a profoundly different delocalization of electrons in organic single crystals. To unravel the different electron-phonon behavior in such crystals as a function of the molecular structure, we employed a plethora of experimental and computational techniques to identify killer molecular displacements responsible for the electron localization.

As well, I will discuss the role of superimposed 2D molecular supramolecular lattices over Quantum Materials in generating novel hybrid van der Waals heterostructures. I will provide some examples on charge- and magneto-transport in such structures.
