Did you elect to receive a lump sum payment? Are you wondering what comes next? With the FCC putting the finishing touches on a final updated incumbent earth station list and table of lump sum electors, and the satellite operators recently having updated their final Transition Plans to reflect earth stations that elected to receive lump sum payment, the time has come for satellite operators and earth station operators to start the physical work of transitioning off of the lower portion of the C-band in earnest. These activities are slated to accelerate at the beginning of 2021. In other words, we are quickly moving from the lump sum election stage to the implementation stage.
To help ACA Connects members who elected the lump sum, we have put together this webinar to illuminate what is needed, whether you are opting to migrate to fiber, maintaining C-Band operations, or both. Although lump sum electors are “responsible for performing any necessary actions” to accommodate changes in the C-Band, it still will entail coordination with the satellite operators -- Intelsat and SES -- and performing such actions consistent with their transition deadlines. ACA Connects encourages members to have all of their employees who will be performing transition tasks, including their engineers and technicians, to individually register for this webinar.
This is an opportunity to hear directly from the satellite operators’ senior personnel who are managing their transition activities, and how these activities impact earth station operators receiving their services. There also will be ample time for live Q&A with them.
For ACA Connects members who have not elected the lump sum, and plan on having the satellite operators perform the transition activities and reimburse their costs, ACA Connects will be having a C-Band Transition (Part 5b) webinar in the coming weeks.
ACA Connects webinars are free for ACA Connects members.
