As family members, providers, and staff who support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, we have a responsibility to provide the highest quality care to people in this vulnerable population. At times, medical symptoms and presenting problems go unrecognized and untreated. Often, the people we serve do not have the ability to express or identify discomfort and/or pain. Sadly, this can result in challenging behaviors, the development of major health issues, or even life threatening medical emergencies.
Join Sharron Parker-Love and Kim Shontz as they passionately speak about five of the most common and devastating medical conditions people with intellectual/developmental disabilities can encounter. When these “Fatal Five” challenges are successfully monitored and treated, we ensure people live healthy and abundant lives. This is a must see for any staff member working in the ID/DD field.
