A City Employee’s Guide to Student Loan Forgiveness
Student loan payments are officially restarting this May. As a City employee, this is a good time to explore the possibility of having your student loans forgiven through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) Program. The PSLF Program forgives the remaining balance on your Direct Loans after you have made 120 qualifying monthly payments, while employed by a government or non-profit organization. Join our two-part webinar series to learn how to can take advantage of the PSLF program. In addition, learn how the NYC Financial Empowerment Center can help you lower monthly payments, explore loan forgiveness, or get out of delinquency or default, depending on your loans. Part 1 will explain the PSLF program, as well as the recently announced PSLF waiver that counts past periods of repayment that originally did not qualify for PSLF.

Part 2 will provide a simple breakdown of how to complete this waiver, so that you are one step closer to having your student loans forgiven.
